Position description:
ICU is seeking a Project/Country Coordinator to join its mission in Jordan, with responsibility for managing ongoing projects and for coordinating and expanding the Organization’s presence in the country.
The position holder will be responsible for the correct implementation of initiatives funded by institutional donors (particularly AICS and the EU), for the management of the office and local/expatriate staff, as well as for the development of new funding and partnership opportunities.
Solid experience in the management of AICS projects (Emergency and Promoted) and EU projects (EuropeAid, INTERREG-NEXT MED, UfM etc.) is required. Multisectoral skills in Agriculture, Water, Energy and Business Development, and knowledge of the Nexus and RBM approaches are appreciated.
Main responsibilities
Project and mission management
- Supervise and coordinate each technical, administrative and financial phase of ICU projects in Jordan (currently an AICS Emergency project in Education and a UfM project in Green Business Development are ongoing/closing).
- Monitor performance, quality and timelines of implementation, ensuring achievement of objectives in line with organizational and donor standards and procedures.
- Draft accurate and timely narrative and financial reports for HQ and donors.
- Manage project and mission budgets, including petty cash, bank reconciliations, procurement procedures in collaboration with relevant technical staff.
- Take responsibility for local bank accounts, ensuring compliance and traceability.
- Manage co-financing and coordination with affiliated projects.
- Supervise project partners and promote joint integrated actions to scale up interventions.
Staff management and representation
- Supervise, coordinate and motivate local staff, promoting professional growth.
- Represent ICU before local authorities, donors, international NGOs, partners and institutions.
- Ensure visibility and effective communication of initiatives in the country.
Program development
- Identify new funding opportunities and build strategic partnerships with institutional and private donors, foundations and companies.
- Maintain relations with key donors in the country to anticipate trends and funding strategies.
- Contribute to the design, writing and submission of new project proposals.
Essential requirements
- University degree in political science, international cooperation, development economics, engineering or related fields.
- At least 4 years of experience in international cooperation.
- Proven experience in writing, managing and reporting projects (AICS, EU).
- Excellent knowledge of EU PRAG procedures and AICS procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools.
- Languages: Italian C1 or native; excellent English (C1 written and spoken).
- Strong planning skills and ability to manage priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to produce both narrative and financial reports.
- Strong organizational, diplomatic and negotiation skills.
- Experience managing multicultural teams and coordinating missions.
Preferred requirements
- Personal network of international donors, foundations and companies.
- Knowledge of Arabic and/or French (minimum B2).
- Previous experience in the MENA region.
- Direct experience in administrative and/or logistics management.
