ICU support to Lebanese communities and Syrian refugees in Deir el-Ahmar. A new post-harvest center for potatoes has been opened.

As part of the project to reduce the crisis impact on the Syrian Lebanese host communities and refugees that ICU realizes in Lebanon, the opening ceremony for a post-harvest center of 400 square meters was held.  The center will be  run by the Association of cooperatives and will be used for washing, packaging and storage of potatoes.

The center will allow the Association to process large quantities of potatoes mainly for exportation, it also offers new employment opportunities for many workers Lebanese and Syrians.

The event was attended by representatives of the EU, local authorities, Caritas Lebanon and the representatives of ICU and civil society.

The project is part of a EU program funded in Lebanon, aimed at improving the living conditions of the host community and the Lebanese refugees affected by the Syrian crisis in Beqaa area.
