Women and children of Chimaltenango
Overview:
Improve the health and nutrition level of indigenous children from the Department of Chimaltenango and their access to school.
Activities:
– construction of a perimeter fence in the new school of “Caserio Paley”;
– construction of a multi sports court in the schoolyard;
– restructuring of the school building;
– socio-economic and anthropological survey on the cases of acute malnutrition in 11 communities of 2 municipalities of the Department of Chimaltenango;
– detection and treatment of children under 5 years with acute malnutrition in 11 municipalities of 2 municipalities of the Department of Chimaltenango.
Results:
– school of Paley rehabilitated ;
– multi sports court built;
– 1,500 children under 5 years treated;
– more than 200 medical visits realized thanks to which 229 children (13% of children under 5 years) suffering from acute malnutrition have been treated.
