Overview:
the action aims at strenghtening the Litani River Authority’s capacities for a more efficient management of its
tasks and responsibilities.
Activities:
– development of a “Management Road Map” through the creation of working groups for the management of
River Basin;
– development of a database containing all information relating to the Litani River Basin;
– making recommendations for the creation of an advisory service at the Litani River Authority;
– creation of an international workshop on water management with the involvement of all stakeholders in the sector;
– strengthening of cooperation between Lebanese actors active in the field of water management.
Results:
– a study on the Lebanese legal system relating to water management produced;
– a study on the current distribution of responsibilities between different actors in water management;
– creation of a field survey to assess farmers’ capacity of water management;
– implementation of the international workshop on water management;
– production of a database containing information on water and environmental issues;
– producing recommendations and setting plans for a more effective management of water resources.
