The ICU – Institute for University Cooperation is a non-governmental organization that operates in several countries in the South of the world and aims to promote the human and social development of less industrialized countries through international cooperation programs with particular attention to the formation and promotion of human dignity. ICU has been present in Rwanda since 2021 and implements development cooperation initiatives in the agricultural-food sector. In particular, ICU currently implements two projects: a project funded by the European Union on the improvement of the coffee value chain and the expansion of the Rwandan coffee market; an AICS funded project on business development in the agro-food chains of coffee and fruit and vegetables. ICU seeks a project manager to join the team. Project description The overall objective is to contribute to Rwanda’s sustainable, inclusive and sustainable economic growth by supporting the implementation of local government development policies for the agro-food supply chains with a view to business development, contributing to full employment and the creation of decent work.
Main tasks:
- Overall supervision and coordination of project activities in order to ensure that the objectives are achieved within the timeframe and parameters envisaged;
- Coordination of local stakeholders and time schedule management;
- Project budget and administrative procedures management according to PRAG procedures;
- Accounting and financial supervision of the project: recording of expenses, planning, on-site transfers, responsibility of the on-site bank accounts relating to the project, guidance and control of the procurement procedures of the project partners, both internal and donor accounting reporting;
- Intermediate and final, narrative and financial reports, according to internal and donor rules;
- finalisation of all project management documentation and regular transmission both internally and to the donor;
- Management of the co-financing component of the project and coordination with other affiliated projects;
- Development of dissemination material related to the implementation of the project;
- Need assessment and elaboration of new project proposals in case
Titles and competences:
Degree: master’s degree in political science, international cooperation and similar.
Degree of experience in the field: at least 3 years of experience as project manager. Priority will be given to the management of projects in the agronomic and rural development sectors and to experience in sub-Saharan Africa.
Experience in administrative and financial management required
Experience with European PRAG procedures required
Knowledge of languages: excellent knowledge of the English language, written and oral (Level C1);
Strong organizational capacity in complex and multisector projects.
Diplomatic and negotiating skills.
