Chimaltenango dwellers

This action reduced malnutrition child deaths in 30 indigenous communities in San Martin and San Juan Comalapa Jilotepequez municipalities, through trainings for young mothers on nutrition and hygiene, techniques of food cultivation issues, and the creation of community networks led by specially trained leaders.

The project improved the quality of life of Cackchiquel indigenous people that live in poor communities in the rural areas of the Department of Chimaltenango through decreasing chronic and acute malnutrition in children less than 5 years old in Guatemala.

Direct beneficiaries have been: 1,000 children (less than 5 years old), 150 families of farmers provided with family gardens, small animals, water filters for 900 persons of which 700 women.
