On 6 October 2026, the VET4HYDROGEN consortium held its Steering Committee meeting at Strathmore University in Nairobi, with ICU headquarters joining remotely.
The meeting brought together representatives of ICU, Strathmore University (SERC), TVET CDACC, Eastlands College of Technology (ECT), the European Union and GIZ to review the project’s achievements during its first year, assess implementation progress and challenges, and define priorities for the next phase.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to share progress and results with the European Union and GIZ, strengthen accountability in project management, and consolidate collaboration among consortium partners.
Through VET4HYDROGEN, the partners are working to integrate green hydrogen knowledge and practical skills into seven existing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes. This approach aims to equip Kenyan students and future professionals with the skills needed to seize opportunities in the emerging green hydrogen sector, contributing to the development of a skilled workforce in support of Kenya’s energy transition.
The Steering Committee meeting marked an important milestone in reviewing activities carried out and coordinating the next steps towards strengthening technical and vocational training in the green hydrogen sector.
VET4HYDROGEN is implemented by ICU, in collaboration with Strathmore University, TVET CDACC and Eastlands College of Technology, with the support of the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
